Computers and the internet
What computer facilities do we offer?
All Manchester libraries provide access to the Internet, word processing software and black and white and colour printing facilities. Charges are made for printing services.
Selected libraries also offer additional software and scanning facilities.
We provide access to the World Wide Web. Although we do not provide dedicated e-mail software (eg Outlook Express) you can use the World Wide Web to create your own e-mail account. (Ask a member of staff for an instruction sheet on how to set up a web-based e-mail account).
To minimise access to inappropriate material we block certain web sites. This software, however, may not always prevent access to such material. If you find a web site that has been inappropriately blocked you may request that the site be made available. If you find a web site which you believe is unsuitable you should report this to a member of staff who may request that it be blocked. In either case a Library Review team will consider the request and respond within five working days.
Manchester Library & Information Service is not responsible for the accuracy, validity or legality of any information made available via the Internet, or any technical failure of a PC, or for slow response times or the non-availability of any web site.
