The national Methodist church is divided up into districts, each consisting of a number of circuits. The governing body of the district is the synod and this meets regularly to discuss district business, covering administrative, financial, ministerial and spiritual matters. Various committees report to the synod, for example Chapel Committee, Youth Committee, Home Missions Committee, General Purposes Committee.
Central library holds records of the local district, the Manchester and Stockport district, and its predecessors, Manchester First District and Manchester Second District. The collection mainly comprises synod minutes and committee minutes (ref. M202). You can view items from the collection in the search room, please make an appointment (with at least one day notice).
