From February 2013, records of baptisms, marriages and burials for Anglican churches in the Diocese of Manchester, including Manchester Cathedral, are available online at Ancestry.co.uk.
The collections, dating from the 1500s to the 20th century, include baptism registers up to 1915; marriage registers up to 1930 and burial registers up to 1985. The original registers and a name index of over 6,000,000 records is accessible on the web.
Free access to Ancestry.co.uk is available at any Manchester City Council library.
