Copying of original registers is not permitted, but visitors to the Manchester Room@City Library are welcome to make microfilm print-outs on the self-service printers. We charge 50p (A4) or 80p (A3) per print.

By Post

We offer a postal service for copies from the microfilms of some parish registers. To find out whether we hold the microfilm copies of registers of a particular parish please check this church register guide (microfilms are listed as MFPR).

We cannot accept orders for copies from pre-printed registers:

• pre-1813 for baptisms and burials
• pre-1754 for marriages
• all pre-1837 Nonconformist registers

Copies are only supplied if the precise church name (e.g. Hulme St Paul) and date (day and month as well as year) are quoted. Copies (including p & p) cost:

• £2.50 (A4)
• £2.80 (A3)
• Postage is an extra £2 for addresses outside the UK.
