Libraries What we have for children in libraries

Summer reading challenge

Join the Summer reading challenge 2016! Read six books over the summer holidays (4 July - 11 September) to collect special collector cards, stickers and goodies. The 'big friendly read' celebrates 100 years of the world's greatest storyteller; Roald Dahl.

If you are between 4 and 11 years old, sign up at your local library and come along to one of many free activities.

What else is going on?

We have a wide range of services for children, young people and their carers at our libraries across the city.

All our libraries have books for children. There are board books and picture books for the very young, story and information books, and graphic novels for teenagers.

Sharing books from an early age feeds the imagination, encourages the enjoyment of reading and forms the foundation of literacy.

We also have a wide range of e-books and audio books for children - browse our collection with overdrive.
