Suspensions and dispensations

What is a suspension?

Manchester City Council will suspend the use of On-Street pay & display bays for specific reasons, on receipt of a written application. There is a charge for this service.

There are only certain specific circumstances where parking places may be suspended to allow for:

  • Building operations,
  • Domestic removals,
  • Weddings,
  • Delivery of goods which may take longer than the permitted regulations,
  • Filming (essential vehicles only such as lighting generators, props vehicles),
  • Funerals or special events.

The Council will reach a pragmatic view when determining requests that balance the needs of all.

Emergency suspension or dispensation may be granted immediately to utilities companies, the Council or the Police. These emergency applications must be faxed or given personally to staff at the Vehicle Pound.
