Unitary Development Plan (UDP)
About the Unitary Development Plan
The Unitary Development Plan (UDP) sets out policies for land use and development in Manchester and decisions on planning applications and future developments are based on the policies in this plan. The UDP was adopted by the Council on 21 July 1995.
This statutory document sets out guidelines for all development in Manchester and is used as a framework from which to base decisions about planning applications.
Work has begun to prepare a Local Development Framework (LDF), which will replace the UDP as the development plan for Manchester.
The Planning Portal has now withdrawn the electronic version of UDP they had previosuly hosted. The text of the UDP and the proposal maps are now available to be viewed or downloaded. we are currently working to make an interactive mapping service available.
