Affordable housing

Access to affordable housing

Everyone should have the opportunity to live in a decent home; a home they can afford, in an area they want.

But big increases in house prices in the city have made it much tougher for many households to get a foot on the housing ladder.

Our 'Affordable Housing' strategy is one way we're tackling the problem. It means making homes available to people who would otherwise find it hard to buy or rent. It includes housing rented from a public landlord like the council or a not-profit housing association or trust; as well as low-cost home ownership schemes.
