VOP Board
The Valuing Older People Board has been running since 2004, making older people partners, leaders and peers in the development of Manchester's citywide programme. Board members' roles include:
-
Holding the VOP Team and its partners to account for their work in Manchester
-
Working on their own particular areas of interest (such as transport)
-
Lobbying for improvement to services for older people in the city
-
Influencing policy for the city at a political level
-
Acting as one of the voices of older people within the City Council
Members are elected to the Board through one of three ways:
- Citywide older people's organisations nominate a representative to the Board
- Election through the Manchester Older People's Forum
- Targeted recruitment by VOP to ensure geographical spread across the city and members reflect Manchester 's diverse population
Each year, the VOP Board produces an annual report. This outlines the work of the Board over the previous year and sets out plans for the following year. The report for 2012/13 is nearly ready, and previous editions of Board Reports will be available soon in the downloads section.
