Valuing Older People (VOP)

VOP Forum

Manchester Older People's Forum was launched in February 2007 and meets four times a year at Manchester Town Hall. The Forum provides an opportunity for many more people to have their say on issues that directly affect people as they grow older in Manchester and also gives members an opportunity to take issues directly to the VOP Board through their elected representatives. Board members give regular feed back at Forum meetings on the work that they have been involved with.

Membership of the Forum is open to any Manchester resident who is over 50 years of age. A large number of local and community groups were invited to nominate one or two of their members to become part of the Forum and there are a number of self-selected individuals who regularly attend Forum meetings.

The Forum is growing in confidence and its membership is increasing. Membership of the Forum in December 2011 stood at 140 and around 80 people regularly attend meetings.

Dates for 2012:

  • Tuesday 28th February 2012
  • Tuesday 29th May 2012
  • Tuesday 25th September 2012
