Valuing Older People (VOP)
Intergenerational Practice
To promote community cohesion and to help build generational relationships in age friendly neighbourhoods, we are developing Intergenerational Practice (IP) in Manchester.
IP is about building generational relationships within community settings between people. It is also a way of addressing social exclusion of older and younger people and making places friendly for people of all ages. This includes how we design our city. For more information on the concept of IP, click here.
Working with the Beth Johnson Foundation Centre for Intergenerational Practice we have a two year approach which sets out what we will do in the city. Central to this is our Manchester's Generations Together programme. This involes thirteen connected projects that run in different parts of the city.
