Transport Strategy for Manchester City Centre

New pedestrian route within the city centre

As part of the Transport Strategy for Manchester City Centre, work will begin this month to pedestrianise the Victoria Street area around Manchester Cathedral and Deansgate.

This will create an attractive new pedestrian route from the City's Millennium Quarter right through to the new Greengate development in Salford. It will also open up the frontage of Manchester Cathedral, creating a fantastic new open space.

The full details of the improvements are available online. This document covers all the changes that will be taking place over the coming months, including those to parking and vehicle access, both whilst the work is underway and once it is finished.

Work will last until spring 2012.
