Climate Change and Energy
CO2mmunity Challenge

Climate change will affect us all. We all need to act now to lower our carbon footprint and be prepared for the impact on our communities and local environment. Co2mmunity Challenge is about making sure Manchester's residents are aware of the challenges and are working towards lowering Manchester's carbon emissions, saving energy and money.
The city's Climate Change Action plan - Manchester A Certain Future (http://www.manchesterclimate.com/) sets out some tough challenges for communities to help the city reduce its Carbon emisssions by 41% by 2020 - from supporting community groups to implement their own plans for reducing energy use towards zero and low-carbon communities, encouraging residents to turn thermostats up or down depending on the season, establishing a range of community-based micro-generation projects where energy can be used by local users and/or fed back into national and local grids and developing the infrastructure to enable an increase in local food growing within the community. Some examples of these actions are already in place and there's lots of support and advice available.
If you want to find out more about how your community can work together to improve the environment, live healthier and a more sustainable life we want to hear from you - together we can cut CO2, but we need to act now.
