Levenshulme High School and Acacias Primary School

The first phase of the £23.7m project to refurbish and rebuild Levenshulme High School for Girls and Acacias Community Primary School in Burnage has been completed, with the new high school building being handed over to the school.
The two adjacent schools will share a combined 61,154 sq m site with the new campus being home to a new 420 place primary school, 60 place nursery and 1000 place part refurbished and part new build high school for girls aged 11-16.
The refurbishment of retained elements of Levenshulme High School started in May 2011 with temporary paths and barriers separating the school pupils and staff from this phase of the construction. The building refurbishment works were completed in January 2012 and include new parking areas and entrance plazas.
Final works to complete the new Acacias Primary School building will be completed in February 2012 and will be followed by the demolition of the old primary school building and further landscaping. The whole project is due for completion by June 2012.
