Disabled Students' Allowances (DSAs)

About DSAs

What are DSAs?

The DSAs help pay for extra costs you may have to pay when studying your course, as a direct result of your disability, mental health condition or specific learning difficulty.

The allowances can help with the cost of a non-medical personal helper, items of specialist equipment, travel and other course related costs.

Who is eligible?

You are eligible to apply for DSAs if you are a full-time or part-time undergraduate student or if you are a postgraduate student and you are on a recognised taught or research postgraduate course.

How do I apply?

If you want to apply for Disabled Students' Allowances you should do so as early as possible before your course starts so that arrangements can be made for any special support you need to be assessed and ready in time for the start of your course. However, you can apply for DSAs at any stage of your course.  To apply, visit Student Finance England online.
