SEN / Inclusion Strategy

Statutory Consultation on Change Proposals

The City Council is now moving towards implementation of the next stage of its SEN / Inclusion policy. At its meeting in November 2008, the Council's Executive delegated authority to the Executive Member for Children's Services and the Director of Children's Services, to decide when the statutory change processes should be initiated on proposals to:

  1. close Ewing School for pupils with speech and language difficulties;
  2. change the scope of provision at The Grange School for pupils on the autism spectrum and relocate the school into new premises on Mount Road, Gorton;
  3. change the scope of provision at Lancasterian school for pupils with physical disabilities.

A decision has now been taken to begin the statutory change process for all three proposals. This will begin with statutory consultation, which will take place between 1 April 2009 to 19 June 2009. Consultation literature explaining each proposal has been produced and circulated to a wide range of stakeholders, with an invitation to submit written comments.
