Rare books and special collections in Manchester Central Library
Periodicals
Central Library holds long runs of many famous historical periodicals, including The London Gazette from 1665; Curtis's Botanical Magazine from 1787; Blackwood's Magazine from 1817.
We also have a huge range of 19th century titles, some of which, like The Yellow Book or The Savoy, ran for only a few issues; some of which, like Punch (1841-1992) ran for years and some which we still take today - Country Life (from 1897) for example.
You can find full details of our historical periodicals on our website. The on-line catalogue lists them alphabetically by title and includes start and finish dates for our holdings.
