Central Library temporary closure

The General Readers'  Library will close at 5pm on Friday 18 June 2010, as part of the restoration and refurbishment of Manchester Central Library.

The General Readers' Library is a busy lending library on the ground floor of Central Library.

It offers:

  • A wide range of popular fiction in paperback, hardback and large print
  • Audiobooks on CD and cassette.
  • Popular non-fiction collection including books on hobbies, pets, sport, health, gardening and biography. For more specialist material visit the appropriate subject department.
  • Basic skills collection covering literacy and numeracy including Quick Reads.
  • Children's books, story tapes and videos for 0 - 12 year olds, books for older children and young adults including graphic novels
  • An extensive collection of music CDs for loan covering all music tastes and genres
  • Films, music and TV programmes on DVD and Blu-Ray
  • Health Information Point

  • Tiny Tots and Toddler Time on Monday 2.00 - 3.00pm (term time only)
