Consultation on Charging for Social Care

Consultation on proposed changes to charges for social support

In 2011, the Directorate for Adults consulted on a fair way to achieve the savings we need to secure in order to ensure the Council has a balanced budget. one of the ways we proposed to do this is by changing the way we charge for services.

This consultation was open from 9 May to 1 September 2011

The ourcomes of this consultation were analysed and presented to the Council's Executive Committee in October 2011.

You can read a summary of the outcomes of the consultation here.

The changes to how we charge for Social Care services for Adults comes into effect on 12 December 2011. Customers have been sent letters detailing what the changes mean for them individually. If you have queries about the costs for your care, and the contributions you are being asked to make, get in touch with your Case Management office, or speak to Contact Manchester - Adults and Children's Social Care Service on 0161 234 5001.

In order to assist people to understand the proposals, and give us their views, we made available the documents below:

People were then invited to complete an online questionnaire, the results of which will be used to inform the decisions being taken.
