Truancy: a parents guide
What every parent has to know
Manchester has one of the highest rates of truancy in the country. It's a sad fact for a proud city.
Manchester City Council is determined to do everything it can to improve school attendance, and if you are a parent or carer, you have an important part to play. Your children have a right
to a good education and you have a legal responsibility to ensure that they go to school on time, all the time.
The information on this site will tell you more about school attendance and the law. You'll also find help and advice on how to ensure that your child/children go to school regularly and details of the penalties for those parents whose children don't.
Use our school finder to contact your child's school and check new term dates and registration times.
