Parks, leisure and the arts Ashenhurst Common

Westwards from Plant Hill Park is an expanse of three natural open spaces split by French Barn Lane and Chapel Lane. Together with Tweedle Common, these areas give an attractive and distinctive character to the whole Higher Blackley Area. All three sites are relatively well connected enclosed on all sides by urban development.

Queen Victoria's wedding dress was made, by royal order, in accordance with the designs, "drawn and painted in the Queen's own hand", at the Ashenhurst Works in Blackley by the firm of Messrs James Houldsworth and Co, formerly located on Ashenhurst Common.
