Help in an emergency
Please Note: the office will be closed on Friday 15th June as we are moving offices (just downstairs to the first floor of Heron House). We will, however, be open as usual for any pre-booked ceremonies. If you need to contact us urgently on that day between the hours of 9am and 4.30pm, regarding a burial within 24 hours or a ceremony due to take place imminently, you should ring 07904 417 282 and leave a message. A member of staff will ring you back as soon as possible. We will only be able to respond to urgent enquiries. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
We operate an emergency service at the weekend and Bank Holidays for those who need to organise a burial within 24 hours. The service can normally be contacted as follows:

If you need to contact us, urgently, outside our office opening hours, regarding a ceremony due to take place imminently, please ring our emergency out of hours service, on 0161 223 7222, who will arrange for a member of the Registration Team to contact you.
Urgent marriages and civil partnerships
Where one party is seriously ill and not expected to recover a ceremony can take place using a Registrar General's Licence from the Registration district where that person is located. Where possible you should contact the relevant register office during office hours so the necessary arrangements can be made. If the ill person is in a Manchester hospital, the staff at the hospital should be able to help.
To arrange a Registrar General's Licence please contact 0161 234 5508 during office hours. We are open Monday - Friday from 9am - 4.30pm. The office is closed from 2.30pm on the first Tuesday of each month.
If you need to contact us at any other time please ring our emergency out of hours service, on 0161 223 7222, who will arrange for a member of the Registration Management Team to contact you, to discuss what arrangements might be possible, depending on the availability of registration staff.
