Manchester City Council

Crime, antisocial behaviour & nuisance Volunteer mediators

Want to be a mediator?

Are you a good communicator? Want to do something rewarding in your spare time? You could be a volunteer mediator.

Mediators help neighbours find solutions to their disputes. They work in pairs, and deal with common problems like noise, children's behaviour, and disputes about parking, pets or fences.

We offer excellent training, the chance to develop your skills and the satisfaction of making a real difference.

What do we want from you?

You’ll need to complete our eight-day skills training course, and then work on three real cases with an experienced mediator.

As a volunteer mediator you'll agree to take on at least five cases per year, and also take part in any additional training or supervision sessions to maintain and enhance your skills.
