Mediator training
We recruit and train mediators to help reduce conflict among neighbours and in the community.
Our training course covers mediation and conflict-management, and includes all the skills you need to help neighbours in dispute.
The training course is about participation, discussion and role-play. When you successfully complete the course you'll work with experienced mediators for the first few months to get a solid understanding of the role.
You'll then get regular workshops and supervision sessions, where you can discuss cases, update your skills and share information with your fellow mediators.
When?
Our next volunteer training course runs on Thursdays and Fridays on these dates (10am to 4pm):
- Thursday 1 November 2012
- Friday 2 November 2012
- Thursday 8 November 2012
- Friday 9 November 2012
- Thursday 15 November 2012
- Friday 16 November 2012
- Thursday 22 November 2012
- Friday 23 November 2012
The course is free to people who will commit to be volunteers and work with the service for two years. For anyone else there is a £500 charge.
You get a certificate of attendance at the end of the course. It's a College of Mediator accredited course, so you get CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points. To get a 'competent mediator' certificate you'll need to complete four cases after you have been on the course.
Who?
This particular course is for people who are available to mediate in the daytime only. Future courses may be open for people who can only mediate in the evening.
Where?
