The Council & democracy Filming and Photography

The Town Hall is a great location for filming and has been used for:

  • Sherlock Homes, starring Robert Downey Junior and Jude Law
  • The Iron Lady, starring Meryl Streep
  • Victor Frankenstein, starring James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe
  • House of Cards
  • BBC's Antiques Roadshow

Creative England is the first port of call for all film and television enquiries in Greater Manchester. They provide free production support and filming locations for all kinds of film and television productions looking to shoot in the English regions outside London. We provide liaison support and help productions find the right locations, crew and facilities.

Last year Greater Manchester signed the Film Friendly Charter with Creative England, which lays out the ways in which the Greater Manchester authorities, Creative England, and their partners work to create a 'film friendly' environment for filming in the region.
