This consultation is now closed 

Manchester currently has 38 Sure Start Centres across the city. They provide services to families with the aim of:

  • improving the life chances and aspirations of children and their families
  • improving parenting skills
  • reducing inequalities in child development and school readiness.

The services provided from Sure Start Centres include:

  • health services such as health visiting and midwifery
  • parenting support
  • speech and language support for under 5s
  • childminder drop-ins
  • stay and play sessions
  • ready for school activities
  • training and employment advice and support for parents.

These 38 centres work together in 14 local areas sharing leadership and management.
