Parks, leisure and the arts Shudehill Conservation Area

Trees

Trees in the Shudehill conservation area are largely confined to a small pocket in the centre, where they provide soft cover for car parks. Tress can provide an impression of solidity in spaces once occupied by buildings. It is the view of the City Council that tree cover should be more extensive, especially on car parking sites.

Even in cases where parking is considered to be a temporary use of land awaiting re-development, peripheral tree planting would improve the environment in the meantime. Future proposals or schemes in the area which involve the use of trees would be welcomed.

Anyone wishing to fell, prune or uproot a tree covered by a Tree Preservation Order or in a Conservation Area should seek permission first from us before undertaking any work to the tree.
