Town Hall Services - What we do

Town Hall Services is responsible for the day to day management of the Town Hall. This covers the reception staff, porters, central switchboard, building services, cleaning, repairs, maintenance and room bookings.

We strive to provide a high quality service that is open to everyone and if you aren't happy with the service we provide or have any ideas on how the service could be improved, please don't hesitate to let us know using the feedback link at the bottom of this page.

Reception

Reception staff are asked to check the ID of everyone entering the Town Hall complex whether you are a member of staff or a visitor. Not only is this in line with our customer care standards to ensure that visitors are looked after appropriately but also to ensure that security within the complex is both effective and efficient.

Opening Times

The Town Hall is open from Monday to Friday at the following times:

  • Lloyd Street: 24 hours
  • Albert Square (main entrance): 9am - 5pm

The Town Hall Extension is currently closed for refurbishment. Our new Customer Service Centre is now open at One First street where you will be able to access all your council services.

Switchboard

The switchboard is the centre of the Council's telephone communication network.  Open between 9.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, our experienced operators are there to assist both members of the public and council staff with any issues or questions they may have with regards to Council matters. The number for the switchboard is 0161 234 5000.

Helpdesk

Our customer service helpdesk offers a 'one stop shop' where you can access all of our services which include; room bookings, internal catering, maintenance, repairs and portering. The number for the helpdesk is 0161 234 4433.

Lost Property

If you have lost property during a visit to the Town Hall, please contact the switchboard and they will do everything they can to help. If you have found property in the Town Hall, please hand it in at any reception desk. Any property found outside the Town Hall Complex must be handed in at a Police Station, the nearest being on Bootle Street (off Deansgate and Peter Street).
