Traffic calming in Manchester

What is traffic calming?

Traffic calming is the measures we take to help drivers to regulate their speeds to levels appropriate to local conditions.

We have a range of traffic calming options that can be used to improve road safety at locations that have been identified as having high casualty rates.

Not all traffic calming measures are appropriate in all situations and we select the best type of scheme for each location based on location and type of traffic using the road. Road users and local residents are consulted about all proposed traffic calming schemes.

How to report a problem

Any section of road in Manchester that has a high level of road traffic casualties will already be under consideration for traffic calming. If you know of an area that would benefit from a traffic calming measure, complete the online form
