What is a traffic regulation order?

A Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) is a legal order, which allows the Highway Authority (Manchester City Council) to regulate the speed, movement and parking of vehicles.

A traffic regulation order can be used for:  

  • Bus lanes
  • Bus stop clearway
  • Bus parking bays
  • Loading bays
  • Double/single yellow lines
  • Limited waiting bays
  • Loading ban
  • No entry
  • One way traffic
  • Pay and display parking
  • Prohibition of driving
  • Resident parking
  • School entrance markings
  • Speed limits
  • Taxi clearway
  • Weight/width restriction
