Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 Local Access Forum
Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000: Local Access Forum
Manchester, Salford and Trafford Councils have established a Joint Forum to advise the Councils and other bodies on the improvement of public access to land for the purpose of open-air recreation and the enjoyment of the area.
Regulations establishing the Forum require that a balance of interests is maintained and this is reflected in appointments to the Forum. Representation currently includes:
- Users of local rights of way, including, walkers, cyclists, horse-riders, disabled people
- Owners and occupiers of access land or land crossed by rights of way
- Other interests, including tourism, sport and recreation, conservation, education, heritage, health, transport, local businesses and agriculture
Membership of the Forum is voluntary, but members may claim expenses. Meetings are held at Manchester Town Hall and are open to the public.
