International Activity

Manchester is recognised worldwide for its transformation from an industrial powerhouse to a thriving, modern, knowledge-based economy, and our vision is for Manchester to be a truly world class city.

As Manchester's international profile grows, we are ideally placed to promote the city abroad and promote trade and investment opportunities. We also attract a wide range of world-class sporting and cultural events to the city. Businesses, investors, cities and governments from all over the world visit Manchester to learn from our regeneration success, whilst we are keen to learn from other cities' experience to inform our own future work.

The International Team aims to use Manchester's increasing global position to maximise the benefits of the Council's international activity for local residents and businesses.

International activity falls under three main workstreams;

• Working with partner agencies to promote Manchester as a place to live, invest, visit and study.
• Promoting dialogue with other leading world cities in order to exchange best practice on service delivery and influence European and international policies on urban affairs.
• Coordinating civic international relations with cities and other stakeholders.
