Northenden Riverside Park

This initiative was designed to create a new park on the banks of the River Mersey providing recreational space for residents of Northenden, visitors, and those who pass through as they commute to and from work.

The proposals included a children's play area in keeping with the adjacent Conservation Area, a route for walkers and cyclists, and links to Chorlton Water Park and the Trans Pennine Trail.

Construction was in two phases:

Phase One: Improvements to footpaths and linkages between Palatine Road and the Tatton Arms footbridge and the weir.

Phase Two: A new play area and improvements to the land under the motorway bridge. Works took place during 2007/08.

In 2010, the park was awarded a Green Flag Award for achieving the national standard for parks and green spaces.
