Schools, education and childcare Primary schools: Council's admission rules

Category 2: Medical or social needs

If your child has a serious medical condition, or social need, and a particular school is the only one suitable, they could go into category 2 for that school.

You need a letter from a doctor or a social worker to back this up. But even with this letter, there's no guarantee of a place at that school. Our panel of senior officers will make the final decision.

We could also put children in category 2 if a parent is disabled, and the school is the most appropriate one for them.
