Sports, leisure & the Arts Britain in Bloom

What Britain in Bloom is all about

We work with communities across the city on projects each year, to brighten up neighbourhoods and help regenerate areas by tackling local issues and building a sense of community.

Imaginative planting of trees, flowers, shrubs and bulbs, combined with projects which tackle litter and antisocial behaviour, can create long-term improvements. Recent Bloom projects have included wildlife gardens, orchards, green play areas, gated alleyways and flowering baskets.

Bloom projects help to increase the skills, experience, capability and capacity of the people involved, fostering a 'can do' attitude to local environmental improvements, enhancing local ownership, participation and determination.

The Bloom scheme is about much more than just flowers - the whole community is working together to improve their local pride, and making their neighbourhoods a better place to live.
