Apply for rehousing
Register for rehousing
To get a home rented from Manchester City Council or other not-for-profit landlords in the area - you must 'register' for rehousing.
The quickest way to register is online on the Homefinder website. (Homefinder is a 'choice-based letting' system run by Manchester City Council and other not-for-profit landlords).
If you don't want to use the internet, or have any questions, ring Housing Oncall on 03000 112211.
High demand
When you register for rehousing you'll be considered for homes run by all the landlords in the Manchester Housing Register - that's Manchester City Council and more than 20 other local not-for-profit landlords.
There's a high demand for homes with not-for-profit landlords in many parts of Manchester.
You are more likely to find something if, after registering, you are given a high 'rehousing priority'. This could be because you're threatened with homelessness, or you're suffering from overcrowding, a relationship breakdown, harassment, a medical condition or another serious situation. Or it may be because you have a 'community connection' to a certain area through your parents, work or education for example.
Increase your chances
Log on to 'Homefinder' regularly to look for available rented homes from not-for-profit landlords across Manchester.
But, remember, there are other housing options around. See how to increase your chances of finding a home.
