Rehousing policy
Our rehousing rules: the allocations scheme
Not-for-profit landlords like the Council, housing associations, and housing trusts provide almost 70,000 homes to rent in Manchester. When they become empty, most of these homes are allocated to people using the City Council's rehousing rules.
The rules help people who need housing most, and recognise those who make a positive contribution to the community.
The document is over 100 pages long, so there are also links here to shorter, easy-to-understand, summaries. The staff procedure manuals show in detail how housing staff put these rules into practice
