Greater Manchester Joint Minerals Development Plan
Greater Manchester Joint Minerals Development Plan Document
Under the provisions of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 the ten unitary authorities in Greater Manchester agreed to produce a Joint Minerals Development Plan Document (JMDPD) for Greater Manchester. The Greater Manchester authorities consider that this arrangement offers the most potential for efficient and effective working on detailed Minerals planning matters.
The JMDPD will include detailed development management policies and identify Areas of Search and Safeguarding Areas for a range of different Minerals found within Greater Manchester up until 2027. The Plan will form an integral part of each authority's Local Development Framework.
Preparation of the JMDPD began in Autumn 2009 and has included a number of consultation stages which have informed the approach to and content of the document.
Submission and Examination
The JMDPD was submitted to the Secretary of State on 18th November 2011. Other relevant documents were submitted alongside the JMDPD including the following documents:
The Sustainability Appraisal Report
Habitats Regulations Assessment
Equalities Impact Assessment
Statement of Consultation
Summary of Representations received at Publication
Schedule of Proposed Minor Changes to the published DPD
Amendments to the adopted Proposals Maps in Greater Manchester
Various evidence base documents
The submitted documents are available to view at public libraries and Main Council Offices across Greater Manchester during their normal opening hours.
Following Submission of the JMDPD a public examination will be held to consider the soundness of the Plan; this is currently expected to be in February 2012. The Secretary of State has appointed an independent inspector to oversee the Examination, and a programme of matters, issues, hearing dates and meetings will be issued by the Inspector in due course.
Individuals and organisations that have made representations at the Publication stage in July-September 2011 will be contacted to with details of the examination procedure. The Councils have appointed a Programme Officer, Mr Chris Hobson, who reports to the inspector and who will advise and deal with all procedural, administrative and programming matters. Chris can be contacted by email christopher.hobson@urbanvision.org.uk or by telephoning 0161 779 4808
