World AIDS Day
1 December has been set as a time to remember lives lost and lives affected by HIV and AIDS. It is also about taking responsibility for our own health and the health of others. To find out more about some of the organisations working to help those affected by HIV and AIDS click here.
Carers' Rights Day
Friday 5 December 2008 is the ninth such day to raise awareness for those who care for others. The day will involve over a thousand groups across the country working to raise awareness of the needs of carers, increase take up of carers' benefits and to make sure that carers know their rights. Winter Payments and Benefits Changes

Asking for help is sometimes the hardest thing we have to do. But
there are hundreds of support services and opportunities in Manchester and they
could really improve the quality of your life.
MyManchesterServices is for Manchester adults and their
carers, friends and relatives. But its also there to help the volunteers and professionals
who work to support people in the city.
There are several different ways to find the services and opportunities
that can improve your life, or the life of the person you want to help.
- You can type your postcode in the box on the left to find services
near to you, or leave it blank to find services and opportunities across Manchester.
- You can choose from the list of life situations to find services
that fit the circumstances you need help with.
- If you already know what kind of service you need you can choose
from the list of service types.
- If you already know which service or organisation you want help from
you can type one or more keywords in the box on the left.
Whichever search method works best for you, we hope you find what
you're looking for. But if you can't, or if you have general feedback about the
