Hulme Nursery and Sure Start Centre
14 November 2007
Martenscroft Nursery School and Sure Start Children's Centre in Hulme has been rated as outstanding after an OFSTED inspection.
The centre has up to 102 children on its books and the government inspectors reported that babies and children were "exceptionally well cared for" in terms of their physical, social and emotional needs.
The report also goes on to say that the children are well stimulated with good continuity of care. Senior management also had a strong strategic view and was well supported by the governors and an advisory group. Staff were also exceptionally well motivated.
The inspection focused on the links between leadership and management and the outcomes for children and their families.
The Executive Member for Children's Services on Manchester City Council, Councillor Sheila Newman, said: "The staff and families at Martenscroft should be extremely pleased by this Ofsted endorsement. It is crucial to get children off to a good start in life and Martenscroft are succeeding admirably."
