Manchester Gets Behind Ricky Hatton

Manchester today sent best wishes to Ricky Hatton as he warms up for his big fight in Las Vegas this weekend.

Hatton faces Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather at MGM Grand on Saturday night.

And when the boxer returns home to the city, Manchester is getting ready to roll out the red carpet for a welcome worthy of one the the city's top ambassadors.

Lord Mayor Councillor Glynn Evans said:"We are sending a good luck message to Ricky on behalf of everyone in Manchester. He is an excellent ambassador for our city and we wish him well."

City centre spokesperson Councillor Pat karney said:"When Ricky comes home, we will be giving him a big Manchester welcome. We'll be talking to his team about plans for celebrations so that everyone can get involved.

"People have very strong views about boxing, but Ricky is a wonderful person who promotes Manchester around the world and we are proud of him. Good luck Ricky, we are right behind you."
