Barlow Hall primary celebrates top five per cent placing
17 December 2007
Barlow Hall primary school in Chorlton is celebrating the latest Government figures on its performance.
The school is now in the top five per cent of the most improved schools nationally in English, in the top eight per cent for maths and among the top fifth for science.
The school, with 250 pupils and one of the oldest primaries in the city at 76 years, is also among the most improved in Manchester. Results have risen by 37% in English, 34% in maths and 27% in science over the last two years.
Headteacher Jayne Kennedy said: "Barlow Hall is a fabulous school where standards have risen enormously over the past few years. We have achieved this by creating an achievement culture where we support our children socially and personally to achieve their very best. Behaviour at Barlow Hall is excellent, we have an exciting curriculum and know where each of our children are and what they need to do next."
The Executive Member for Children's Services, Councillor Sheila Newman, said: "Congratulations go to Jayne Kennedy and her staff and all those supporting the school because they are now seeing the results of all their hard work. Parents should be re-assured by these latest figures because they are proof that the school is successfully turning itself around."
