Tips for web-selling success

3 January 2008

Would-be online entrepreneurs can pick up crucial tips about selling on the web with a free four-week course.

The course, available to Manchester residents and small businesses based in the city, will show how to reach eight million potential customers via online auction sites such as Ebay.

Experienced traders will give insights into attracting buyers, enhancing listings with lively descriptions and strong photography, maximising profits, monitoring sales and more. It will also highlight the possible pitfalls for new customers.

Councillor Sue Murphy, Executive Member for Employment and Skills, said: "The internet opens up exciting opportunities for budding entrepreneurs to create thriving businesses. But it is also somewhere that inexperienced sellers can make costly mistakes. These courses offer an invaluable introduction and will hopefully launch a few success stories."

Courses at North City Library, Harpurhey; East City Library at MANCAT's Openshaw Campus and Manchester Central Library take place on Tuesdays 15, 22, 29 and 5 February 2008. The North City courses run from 1-3pm, the East City courses from 4.30-6.30pm and the Central Library courses from 5.30-7.30pm.

The courses at the International Learning Centre in Stockport Road, Levenshulme, takes place on Thursdays 17, 24 and 31 January and 7 February 2008 from 5.30-7.30pm.
