Valentine’s Day date for football lovers
13 February 2008
Football lovers keen to see a big match can make a Valentine’s Day date with their PCs to bid for a ticket for the UEFA Cup Final 2008 in Manchester.
The ballot for tickets for the final opens at 11am on Thursday (14 February 2008) exclusively via Europe's football website http://www.uefa.com/
Fans - or their lovers - will be able to apply for up to two tickets each between then and 11pm on 16 March. Tickets will be awarded by ballot and every valid application will enter the ballot.
There are 11,000 tickets available for sale to fans worldwide. In addition, each finalist club will be able to take up to 13,000 tickets for distribution directly to its supporters.
Ticket prices will be £35, £55, £75 and £95. For details visit http://www.uefa.com/
The ticket design incorporates a stylised image of the distinctive City of Manchester Stadium structure by leading contemporary artist Liam Spencer, a Rossendale-based artist with strong artistic links to Manchester.
Liam has created three major pieces of work that are being used on publicity materials ranging from stadium decoration to posters and websites. In addition to the one on the ticket, he has painted a glowing aerial view of the Stadium and an image of football fans enjoying the spectacle of a top-level match.
