Darren Campbell promotes healthier Manchester

10 March 2008

Manchester Partnership is hosting a free family event, which will take place on Saturday 15 March at Manchester Central.

The event, '2015: Manchester's Journey' has been organised to examine Manchester's vision for residents to be healthier, wealthier and happier.

Celebrated Olympic athlete Darren Campbell will be in attendance and will be talking to visitors between 1pm and 2pm. Sir Richard Leese will also be speaking at the event during performances between 1 and 2pm.

The festivities will begin at 11am with a fun filled day of activities including drumming and dancing workshops, games, a quiz, £100 prize draw and a crèche. The interactive quiz will give residents a chance to tell Manchester Partnership what they think about life in Manchester.

There will be an opportunity to see a short film looking at what makes people happy in Manchester made by Wake Up Productions youth project called Fresh from Manchester, additionally Moss Side Youth Project RECLAIM will be performing its production 'The Reality of Life in Moss Side'.

Saturday's entertaining event will give Mancunians the opportunity to speak with members of Manchester Partnership, as well as hearing from the organisation, which reports back to residents once every two years on the work being done to improve life in Manchester.

Sir Richard Leese, Chair of Manchester Partnership said: "Manchester will be what the people of Manchester want it to be. This is a great opportunity for residents to come and tell us what's important to them and their neighbourhood'.

Although free of charge and open to the public, registration for the event is essential, either ring Jenny on 0161 234 3541 or visit http://www.manchesterpartnership.org.uk/ and click on 2015:manchester's journey.
