Manchester City Council

Makeover for Newton Heath Market

Newton Heath Market is under-going a makeover to offer a better service to its customers.

With the support of Manchester City Council, Newton Heath Market is able to continue delivering quality products and services to the local community.

The market will be closed for just over a week while remedial works take place, including the installation of new gazebos, to ensure it is fully up to standard for continued use.

The market is expected to be closed Thursday 15 May to Tuesday 27 May inclusive, with the opening of the newly refurbished market on Wednesday 28 May, weather permitting.

Councillor Eddy Newman, Executive Member for Neighbourhood Services said: "The refurbishment of Newton Heath market will be of significant benefit to both the traders and customers as we continue to develop the market in-line with the wider regeneration of North and East Manchester. We now ask the local community to support the market to ensure its long-term success."

Newton Heath market offers a diverse range of quality and affordable goods for sale including food stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, confectionary and a café. There are also stalls with ladies and mens fashions, flowers, cosmetics, cards and stationery, household goods, footwear and a shoe repair service.
