Underground Manchester Re-visited

20 May 2008

Back by popular demand, another talk on the mysteries surrounding Manchester’s underground city will be given by local historian, Keith Warrender in June.

Due to the volume of people who flocked to Central Library in April to hear the author of Underground Manchester: Secrets of a City Revealed, speak on the subject, Manchester Archives and Local Studies Library have arranged a repeat of the talk in a larger venue.

It will take place in The Friends' Meeting House, Mount Street, opposite the rear entrance of Central Library on Friday 6 June at 1pm.

In response to the popularity of the topic, it is essential for anyone wanting to attend, to book a ticket in advance by contacting Manchester Archives and Local Studies at Central Library on 0161 234 1979.

Councillor Mike Amesbury, Executive Member for Arts & Leisure said: "The mystery of Manchester's underground city has been a focus for many years and generates a lot of excitement and wonder. It is not surprising that Keith Warrender's talk has proved so popular and we're delighted to welcome him back to share his knowledge with even more people."

Keith Warrender will be illustrating his talk with photographs from his book, which records fascinating details of the tunnels, hidden rivers and other features of the city below our feet.

To reserve a free place contact Manchester Archives and Local Studies at Central Library on 0161 234 1979.

The talk will be held Friday 6 June 1pm - 2pm.
