Winning blog has Trinity girl laughing all the way to the shops

10 June 2008

A winning blog entry by Hulme's Trinity High School pupil, Olivia Hamandani has earned her £150 to spend at her favourite store.

Year 7 pupil, Olivia won the competition organized by school meals provider Manchester Fayre, on lifestyle website www.yougo4it.co.uk/manchester which contains advice and information on healthy eating and staying fit.

Pupils from schools across Manchester were asked to submit a blog on the website, which would make people laugh and Olivia's sense of fun saw the judges chuckling at her entry and announce her the winner.

Her prize was £150 worth of vouchers for a shop of her choice, and Olivia will now hit the high street and spend her winnings on clothes and accessories at H & M.

Councillor Bernard Priest, Executive Member for Manchester City Council with a responsibility for school meals said: "Congratulations to Olivia. She thoroughly deserves this fabulous prize, which I am sure she will enjoy. The competition saw some terrific entries and is an example of the many ways that Manchester Fayre are encouraging young people to think about their health and the long-term benefits of a nutritious diet."

Manchester Fayre work closely with the yougo4it website, which includes lots of information on nutrition and fitness designed specifically for young people in a fun and interactive way.
