Free trapeze course is back

A free trapeze course that gave those who took part last time lots of fun is back by popular demand.

Those involved in the last course for adults enjoyed themselves so much that many of them are now taking part in family sessions with their children.

That means there are four places left on the new course for adults only, which is held at MANCAT's Nicolls College on Hyde Road in Ardwick. The course will take place each Tuesday from 7pm to 8.30pm for six weeks, starting next week (Tuesday 17 June).

One of the local people on the first course said: "I don't know if my abs are hurting from all the exercise or from laughing so much."

The course is funded by New East Manchester, the urban regeneration company transforming east Manchester.

Eddie Smith, Chief Executive of New East Manchester, said: "This course will help improve the physical fitness of those who take part and in addition to learning a new skill it will help build people's confidence and self esteem.

"Learning the trapeze is a fun way to try a new activity and enhance your social life. It could be a really life-changing experience."

The course tutor is Lindzi Miller, an aerialist from Rochdale-based Skylight Circus Arts, who has 15 years' experience teaching trapeze and other circus skills all over the UK and abroad.

"Although a degree of physical fitness is necessary, all we really ask for is enthusiasm and a keenness to learn this beautiful art," she said. "The course will improve people's core strength and flexibility and their general well-being. Participants will have the opportunity to try various aspects of trapeze from day one. We guarantee it will be fun, sociable and immensely rewarding."

Places are limited to east Manchester residents. Prior booking is essential. For further details and registration please contact Jo Williams on 0161 223 1155.
