Northstock Festival Comes to Harpurhey

18 June 2008

You’ve heard of Woodstock and now Northstock is bringing the best of local and international music and entertainment to North Manchester.

On Saturday 21 June, North City Library on Rochdale Road will host an afternoon of live performances celebrating world music and dance.

The Blackley Brass Band, martial arts performers, belly dancers and a Spanish Guitarist are just some of the acts that will feature in the event, which has been organized as part of Refugee Week 2008.

Refugee Week has been created to celebrate the contribution of different cultures into the city's communities, with Northstock being just one of a number of events being put on around Manchester.

Councillor Mike Amesbury, Executive Member for Arts & Leisure at Manchester City Council said: "We are fortunate in Manchester to enjoy such a rich cultural diversity and Refugee Week encourages us to stop and think about this and learn about other customs and traditions."

Northstock promises something for everyone with children's crafts and fabulous food and drink on offer throughout the day.

Northstock will take place on Saturday 21 June 1pm - 4pm at North City Library, Rochdale Road, Hapurhey and entry is free of charge.
